Mr. Ibrahim Al-Howishel

Founding and Managing Partner

Mr. Ibrahim Al-Howishel is the Founding and Managing Partner of the Firm. He has more than 22 years of legal experience, that includes his time with the Saudi association firms of Norton Rose and Eversheds Sutherland. Mr. Al-Howishel has also worked as a legal counsel at Suleiman Al Rajhi Real Estate Investment Company and at AR Riyadh Development Co. and has advised his clients on many complex deals in the real estate development sector. His expertise in the real estate law and his wide experience in mega real estate transactions and real estate development projects are seriously recognized by his major clients.

Mr. Al-Howishel also advises on family wealth governance, inheritance and commercial transactions. Clients value his in-depth knowledge of the Saudi laws and his acute commercial sense which underpin his legal advices.

Mr. Al-Howishel is a seasoned litigator and with his outstanding advocacy and negotiation skills, and his deep knowledge of Sharia, he has successfully resolved numerous complicated legal disputes for his clients.

Mr. Al-Howishel holds a bachelor’s degree in Sharia from Al Imam University, and he received an associate degree in Procedures and Applied Legal Sciences from Riyadh Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Muhammad Arif Saeed

Partner, Head of Corporate & Commercial

Mr. Saeed is a Partner and heads the corporate & commercial practice of Ibrahim Al-Howishel Law Firm. He has over 24 years of legal experience. His practice focuses on domestic and cross-border M&A and private equity transactions, equity capital markets and energy projects, including renewable energy. Mr. Saeed has acted for leading international clients on major acquisitions and disposals, MBOs, joint ventures, divestitures, corporate structuring and FDI matters. He has also advised major multinationals on a broad range of commercial laws, including government procurement law, employment law, competition law, commercial agencies and franchise law, IT and IP laws.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Saeed was a partner and head of commercial & projects practice for Eversheds Sutherland International LLP in Riyadh for eight years, and before that he was a partner and head of corporate & commercial practice for Al-Tamimi & Company in Riyadh for four years.

Mr. Saeed is a regular speaker at conferences on the specialist subjects of M&A, private equity and renewable energy, in both the MENA region and internationally. He also regularly features as a contributor to press and leading trade publications on the areas of his expertise.

Mr. Saeed received his LL.B. degree and his Postgraduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Laws (DIPL) from the University of the Punjab, Pakistan. He received his Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from the London School of Economics & Political Science, UK.

Mr. Turki AlShathri

Partner, Head of Litigation

Mr. Al-Shathri heads the litigation department at Ibrahim Al-Hwaishel Law Firm and Legal Consultations. He also has more than ten years of legal experience and has handled many high-profile litigation cases for major clients in a number of areas including inheritance law, real estate usufruct rights and property disputes, construction disputes, bankruptcy and liquidation matters. He has provided legal services to many companies and businessmen, including Sheikh Sulaiman Al-Rajhi Real Estate Investments Company, Business Center for Economic Studies and a number of non-profit committees.

Mr. Al-Shathri holds a Bachelor degree in Sharia from Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University and holds a Corporate Governance Officer certificate from the London University of Business and Finance (LSBF). He is a member of the Judicial Association and has participated in many conferences and specialized workshops.

Mr. Riyan AlMogbel

Senior Associate

Mr. AlMogbel is a licensed Saudi lawyer, and a senior associate in the corporate commercial practice group of Ibrahim Al-Howishel Law Firm. He is a seasoned lawyer and well trained in Sharia jurisprudence. He has advised numerous public and private sector clients on corporate and commercial law matters, including corporate governance, corporate compliance, corporate restructuring, mergers & acquisitions, and incorporation of Saudi and foreign companies. Mr. AlMogbel is an expert in bankruptcy laws and procedures and he handles a number of bankruptcy matters and financial reorganization for listed and unlisted companies in Saudi Arabia in accordance with the Bankruptcy Law, the Regulations of the Capital Market Authority, and the Saudi Central Bank regulations. He also advised clients on employment, arbitration, and restructuring of companies. Mr. AlMogbel has previously worked in several international and local law firms, such as Latham and Watkins.

He holds a Master of Laws degree from the University of Southern California, United States, and a Bachelor’s degree in Sharia law from Qassim University.

Mr. Abdul Aziz AlFaryan

Senior Associate

Mr. Al-Faryan is a qualified Saudi lawyer with more than 8 years of experience in Saudi Arabia. He started his career as a legal researcher at the Administrative Courts in Riyadh. Mr. Al-Frayan’s litigation practice is focused on administrative, employment, financial, family, and other matters in Sharia and arbitration courts. He has extensive experience in commercial and corporate litigation, including bankruptcy of listed and unlisted companies in Saudi Arabia, SAMA, and CMA regulations. He provides legal consultancy to clients on general commercial laws and assists in establishing new local and foreign investment companies in accordance with SAGIA rules and regulations.

Mr. Al-Faryan has a Master’s degree in Private Law and previously obtained a Bachelor’s degree from the College of Law and Political Science at King Saud University in Riyadh. He regularly participates in legal seminars and conferences.

Mrs. Cynthia Gerges

Associate

Mrs. Gerges is an associate in the corporate commercial practice group of Ibrahim Al-Howishel Law Firm. She regularly advises clients in relation to the Saudi Companies Law, Corporate Governance, Employment Law, Commercial Agencies and Franchise Law, and has gained excellent experience in bankruptcy matters and financial restructuring of listed and unlisted companies. She has handled legal due diligence and mergers & acquisitions transactions and has excellent drafting skills in both English and Arabic. She has an excellent experience in establishing Saudi and foreign owned companies pursuant to Foreign Investment Laws and in advising clients on corporate compliance matters. She has also been involved in advising clients in relation to family and inheritance matters.

Mrs. Gerges holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the Lebanese University in Beirut.

Mrs. Wejdan Al Haid

Partner

Mrs. AlHaid is a partner at Ibrahim Al-Howishel Law Firm and a senior member of the corporate commercial practice group. She has worked as a legal advisor on a number of cases and files for more than eight years and has advised local and international clients in relation to corporate, M&A, foreign investment laws, capital markets and agency laws according to CMA and SAMA rules and regulations. Her specific experience includes advising clients in relation to initial offerings and offerings in the parallel market, corporate governance and compliance and risk management. Mrs. AlHaid has a local and international experience as she worked at New York City Supreme Court – Commercial Division, in addition to working in various local firms with a number of major listed Saudi Companies.

Mrs. AlHaid holds a Master’s degree in banking, corporate and finance law from Fordham University in New York City, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in law from King Saud University. In addition to the CME1, she has completed many courses and specialized training programs in commercial law and companies.

Ms. Afnan Alhuqail

Ms. AlHuqail is a Saudi licensed lawyer and an associate in the litigation practice of the Firm. She has over 6 years of private practice experience in the Kingdom.

She has advised clients in relation to Saudi Companies Law, corporate governance, incorporation of companies and setting up of businesses, employment law, real estate law, Commercial agencies law, franchise law.

Ms. AlHuqail has also represented a number of public and private sector clients on commercial Dispute resolution.

She is a graduate of Princess Nora University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
